Tooth Extractions in Richmond

At Kiddie Cavity Care & Orthodontics, we will work to save your child’s tooth, but sometimes an extraction is necessary to maintain the health of your child’s mouth or to get them ready for orthodontic treatment.

Your child’s baby teeth are an important step in your their development and are best left to come out on; however, in some cases, we may recommend removing one or more baby teeth. If our dentist does recommend an extraction, here are some of the common reasons why:

  • The tooth won’t come out on its own
  • The tooth is infected, broken or damaged to be treated or repaired
  • The tooth is blocking the permanent tooth
  • The tooth is crowding your child’s mouth

When we remove the tooth, we may recommend a space maintainer to hold the space for the permanent tooth. Sometimes when a tooth is extracted, the teeth on either side of the gap can drift into the space, keeping the permanent teeth from erupting.

You will be happy to know that we offer sedation to ensure your child’s comfort and ease during the procedure. Sedation options available include:

  • Local anesthesia
  • Laughing gas
  • Oral sedation
  • IV sedation
  • General anesthesia

So good with kids and honest... my favorite part is how they take x-rays... no film like back in the day... the machine goes around the child's head. I am loving this place!
